Developing the Next Generation of Entrepreneurs: Comcast Business and Junior Achievement – Week 15

March 15, 2016

The students in the JA Company Program meet for the last time as they gear up for the regional competition.

This is the fifteenth in a series on Comcast Business and its work with Junior Achievement. For a look at the previous article, click here.

I’m writing this update with mixed emotions as this was the LAST WEEK we will meet with all of the students in our JA Company Program.

To close things out, the entire OneLove Company team completed a final inventory and filled their last orders. They determined they would return their entire $10,700 profit back to investors and issued a check to all stockholders, with each receiving a whopping 150 percent return on their initial investment.

The students also calculated who the top sales representatives were, and awarded cash and prizes. Congratulations to these three outstanding salespersons:

  1. Aziz Scott
  2. Sameese Smith
  3. Damani Okuri

As mentioned in a previous post, the top two sales persons each received a set of Beats™ headphones. Cash prizes included $100 for the top seller, $50 for the runner up and $25 for the third best sales person.

Because this was the last meeting for the larger group, our newly elected OneLove Company officers also spent time meeting with functional groups (marketing, finance, etc.) so they could get a complete picture of their efforts in preparation for the JA Company Program Regional Competition, which will take place April 21. At the time, OneLove Company will face off against other student run companies in both group and individual categories. From there, 15 student companies from around the country are chosen to compete in the JA USA National Student Leadership Summit held in Washington, DC.
