Dream Gig: The Secret to Success

November 07, 2017

Gig-speed internet removes the limitations and lags of other networks, making working with massive files and supporting cloud-based applications a breeze.

With the increased availability of Gig-speed internet, there is now a network in place that is capable of transforming more businesses in more places. Companies that understand the power of Gig-speed internet will be able to reshape their operations in ways they never knew possible.

But first, it’s important to realize what things are draining your bandwidth—and why you need more to not only operate more efficiently now, but to be prepared for growth and new opportunities in the future.

Across every business or industry, there are four universal drivers that can cause slow internet.

  1. Explosive Growth of Internet – Global IP traffic will increase nearly threefold over the next 5 years, and will have increased 127-fold from 2005 to 2021. Overall, IP traffic will grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 24 percent from 2016 to 2021 according to Cisco.
  2. Adoption of Cloud-Based Business Applications – Global cloud IP traffic will almost quadruple (3.7-fold) from 2015 to 2020 (Cisco) while 92 percent of workloads will be processed by cloud data centers by 2020 (Cisco).
  3. Widespread Adoption of Internet Connected Smart Devices – Internet connected smart devices, like surveillance cameras, smart electrical meters and smart TVs, will grow from an installed base of 15.4 billion devices in 2015 to 30.7 billion devices in 2020 and 75.4 billion in 2025 (IHS).
  4. Number of Connected Devices – The number of devices connected to IP networks will be three times as high as the global population in 2021. There will be 3.5 networked devices per person by 2021, up from 2.3 networked devices per person in 2016 (Cisco).

Fortunately, Gig-speed internet removes the limitations and lags of other networks, making working with massive files and supporting cloud-based applications a breeze. Businesses can stop worrying about their connection, regardless of file size or the number of connected devices or employees.

In fact, with speeds up to 1,000 Mbps, Gig-speed Internet will help you and your business work faster—up to 20x faster—to improve collaboration, support more devices and run cloud applications without a hitch.

With more power, more capacity, more speed — all designed to be more affordable — small businesses can Dream Gig.
